    Jarrod Brown, Chief Executive Officer

    Jarrod joined Bennelong in September 2007 and has over 18 years experience in banking and funds management. He has worked across all elements of the funds management value chain in various executive positions with Standard & Poor’s, IOOF Investment Management Limited and ING Australia.

    As Chief Executive Officer, Bennelong Funds Management, Jarrod is charged with developing Bennelong Group’s asset management capability and is both the Responsible Manager and Director of various Bennelong Group companies.

    Jarrod holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Graduate Diploma (Banking & Finance), Master of Business Administration and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

  • Rod Smith, Chief Operating Officer

    Rod is Chief Operating Officer of Bennelong Funds Management (BFM) and has 16 years experience in accounting and finance. Rod joined the Group in July 2008 and is responsible for the Finance, Compliance, Product and Operations functions. Prior to joining BFM, Rod held various positions with IOOF, Moet Hennessy, Fosters and Coopers & Lybrand.

    Rod holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an ASFA Accredited Investment Fiduciary.

    Andrew joined Bennelong in July 2008 and has 18 years experience in the funds management industry. His role encompasses building and maintaining relationships with consultants, institutions and retail distributors on behalf of Bennelong’s investment management boutiques.

    Before joining Bennelong, Andrew worked for five years servicing consultant, wholesale and retail channels for boutique fund manager, Ausbil Dexia. Prior to Ausbil Dexia, he spent time working for IOOF/Perennial, Aberdeen Asset Management, Credit Suisse First Boston and BT Australia in both Accounting and Business Development roles.

    Andrew has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a Chartered Accountant.

  • Darlene White/Ella Tassi, Joint Head of Marketing

    Darlene White/Ella Tassi, Joint Head of Marketing

    BA (Man Comm)/BA (Media/Sociology), Grad Dip Marketing

    Darlene and Ella job share the role of Joint Head of Marketing and are responsible for marketing, communications, web and brand management for the business. Their experience spans across strategic marketing, business communication, public relations and project management with financial services organisations across the value chain.

    Prior to joining BFM, Ella was joint Senior Marketing Manager at IOOF, where she and Darlene managed and implemented key communications strategies and PR and branding initiatives. Previous roles include Director at Lucid Marketing & Communications, Marketing Projects Manager at AXA Australia, and Account Director at Eclipse Multimedia.

    Before commencing with BFM, Darlene worked at IOOF for six years in a variety of roles including Senior Marketing Manager - Communications, Senior Marketing Manager - Platform Marketing and Adviser Marketing Manager. Previously, she has worked for AXA in adviser marketing and several publishing houses in marketing support roles.

     

  • Tim Bolger, Director Distribution - Northern Region

    Tim Bolger, Director Distribution - Northern Region

    BA, DFP

    Tim comes to Bennelong with industry experience in a variety of business development roles, most recently as NSW/ACT State Sales Manager with Accountancy Insurance Brokers (AIB). Whilst at AIB, he managed the distribution of the group's specialist insurance products to accountants.

    Prior to this, Tim consulted to Macquarie Funds Group on their 2009 Agri-MIS capital raising. He also worked with Timbercorp for six years, initially in a business development capacity then as State Manager NSW/ACT.

    He is currently completing a Diploma of Law at the University of Sydney.

     

  • Adam Tweedale, Director Distribution - Southern Region

    Adam Tweedale, Director Distribution - Southern Region

    B Bus, DFP

    Adam is Bennelong Funds Management's Business Development Manager - Southern Region and joins the Group with a broad financial services background.

    He has worked in the financial services industry in a variety of roles with a wide range of businesses, including 15 years at Macquarie Bank in retail sales, two years at Vanguard Investments in business development roles, and time with APN Property Group as their Business Development Manager for Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

    Most recently, Adam worked for a boutique financial planning practice based in Melbourne.

    He has a Bachelor of Business and Diploma of Financial Planning.

     

  • Roger Phipps, Director Distribution - Southern Region

    Roger Phipps, Director Distribution - Southern Region

    MBA

    Before joining Bennelong in August 2011, Roger held senior distribution roles with a number of organisations, including MAB Funds Management, Legg Mason Asset Management and HSBC Asset Management.

    As Bennelong's Director Distribution, Southern Region, Roger will draw on his extensive experience in the financial services industry, which included almost a decade with Legg Mason Asset Management, and seven years with HSBC Asset Management. His knowledge of the value chain was further extended by working with ANZ Financial Planning as an Advice Process Manager.

    Roger holds a Master in Business Administration, and is currently completing his PS146 Qualification.

     

  • Tara Bell, Client Relationship Manager

    In October 2011, Tara joined Bennelong's Distribution team as Client Relationship Manager. She has extensive experience in senior financial services roles, having worked in both the research house environment and retail investment sector. Prior to her current appointment, she worked at Standard & Poor's (S&P) for five years, promoted to Associate Director in 2009. Previous roles include Client Manager at UBS Asset Management and Research Manager at ING Investment Management.

    Tara is based in the Melbourne office, but works closely with the Sydney team in providing asset consultant and research house services.

    She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland.

BFM Board

The BFM Board consists of Chairman Bruce Loveday, four non-executive directors, and two executive directors, Chris Cunningham and Jarrod Brown.

    Bruce is Chairman of Bennelong Funds Management and was appointed to the role in July 2010. He has a wealth of Australian and international financial services experience in executive roles, including Head of Fund Services/Head of Sales and Marketing with Intech Financial Services, Director of Hopkins Partners Funds Management, Head of Institutional Broking with HSBC Securities Australia and Director of Marketing with Colonial Investment Management.

    More recently, Bruce was Acting CEO/Executive General Manager, Business Support and External Relations with Oz Minerals/Oxiana. Prior to this position, he was Executive General Manager, Corporate and Investor Relations with Smorgon Steel.

    He has also served on the Board of St Michael's Grammar School and been involved with a variety of industry bodies including IFSA's Investment Committee, the High Technology Financing Committee and Director of the Australasian Investor Relations Association.

    Peter is Chairman of Challenger Financial Services Group Limited, Challenger Life Limited, IDP Education Pty Limited, AWB Limited and a Director of AVANT Insurance Limited, ESCOR Pty Limited, Bennelong Group Holdings Pty Limited, Bennelong Fund Management and the Bennelong Foundation.

    He has also served on the board of Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group Limited and Challenger Listed Investments Limited as responsible entity for the Challenger Wine Trust and the Challenger Infrastructure Fund.

    Peter has broad experience in the banking and financial services industry. His most recent executive responsibilities were as Managing Director of the Colonial First State Funds Management Group and subsequently with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia as Group Executive responsible for investment, funds management and insurance services.

  • Malcolm Gray AM, Non-Executive Director

    Malcolm Gray AM, Non-Executive Director

    Malcolm is a Non Executive Director of Bennelong Funds Management Limited, Bennelong Group Holdings Pty Ltd, Diabetes Australia and the Diabetes Australian Research Trust. Malcolm is an Executive Director of Gray Johnson Estate Agents, Chairman of BQ Design Pty Ltd and a member of the Cricket Advisory Board of Dubai Sports City.

    Malcolm has served as President of the Real Estate Institute of Australia, President of Real Estate Institute of Victoria, President of International Cricket Council, Chairman of Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria, and is a former Member of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

    Previous positions include Deputy Chairman of Bank of Melbourne Ltd and Directorships with OFM Ltd, Wildsmith and Gray Pty Ltd, Heath Lambert (Insurance Brokers) and RESI – Statewide Building Society.

    Chris is Chief Executive Officer of Bennelong Group and has more than 15 years experience in financial management, accounting and finance. Chris joined Bennelong in May 2004 as Chief Financial Officer where he was responsible for the finance, compliance and company secretarial functions of the Group. He was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer in July 2010.

    Prior to joining Bennelong, Chris was a Director within Deloitte's Growth Solutions Division where he spent 10 years servicing middle market businesses. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, holds a Bachelor of Business degree and has a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment with FINSIA.

    Stephen has broad experience at director level with a wide range of financial services businesses, including investment banking, private equity and infrastructure operations.

    He is currently Chairman of the Travelex Asia Pacific Group, Non-Executive Director of book publishing firm Allen & Unwin Pty Limited and International Parking Group, and a trustee of one of Australia's leading private funders of cancer research, the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. Previous directorships include Colonial First State Private Capital Limited and Hopkins Partners Funds Management Limited.

    Stephen's professional career has encompassed various financial management roles including executive positions with Price Waterhouse, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Merrill Lynch Australia, and Joint Managing Director of Hambros Australia Group. His career has also involved membership on various compliance, audit and risk committees, bringing valuable insight to BFM's compliance function.

     

  • Elizabeth Flynn, Non-Executive Director

    Elizabeth has more than 30 years experience in the financial services industry, including roles within law and corporate governance as well as executive responsibilities.

    Most recently, Elizabeth was employed as Aviva Australia's Chief Legal Counsel and Group Company Secretary, where she managed the legal, compliance and company secretarial functions. During her time with Aviva, Elizabeth was a Director of NULIS Nominees, Aviva Australia's superannuation trustee company.

    Her varied and successful career includes 18 years as a commercial lawyer with Minter Ellison, where she specialised in managed funds, securitisation and superannuation, and time serving on IFSA's (now Financial Services Council's) Regulatory Affairs Board Committee.

Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee

The Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee is a direct delegation of the BFM Board.  Its role is to add value to the group’s audit, risk and compliance functions, ensuring sound processes are embedded into its asset management business.

It is also the role of the Committee to guide the business in its endeavour to be a responsible and ethical manager, not only performing in today’s economic climate but building a robust funds management business for the future.
